Hygrophorus bakerensis Smith & Hesler Tawny Almond Waxy Cap. Cap 4-15cm across, convex-obtuse with incurved margin, becoming plane; margin whitish, center tawny olive, umber-brown to cinnamon buff, fading outward; glutinous when wet with appressed fibers below gluten. Gills adnate decurrent, close; creamy white. Stem 70-140x 8-25mm, equal or tapering below; white to pale pinkish buff; pruinose at the top, without any gluten but often exuding small droplets of liquid at the top. Flesh thick; white, unchanging. Odor strong, fragrant, of bitter almonds according to some reports. Taste mild. Spores ellipsoid, smooth,
7-8(10) x 4-5(6)µ. Deposit white. Habitat under conifers. Common. Found in the Pacific Northwest. Season September-December. Edible.
